The Commission and trial of the West Yorkshire workers who organised and rose up against the mill owners who had changed the laws of the land to make it a capital offence to break up weaving frames. The murder of of the mill owner William Horsfall in 1812 and the trial is described in this rare pamphlet and the hanging of the luddites involved. Over 60 men were tried with varying outcomes. The victory over the luddites had far reaching consequences for the working classes in the nineteenth century. Appears to be a copy of the first edition. The title of the second edition [2 copies traced] is amended.
